AN American-based film-maker is returning to Ulverston to trace more people with links to the visit by legendary Hollywood movie stars Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.

Three minutes of rare 8mm film of the comedy duo’s visit to Stan Laurel’s home town in 1947 are set to featured in a new documentary.

The documentary is being made by lifelong Laurel and Hardy fan and collector Mike Quinn, from Arizona, in the USA. Mr Quinn and his wife Jerri were in Ulverston earlier this year spending time finding people with personal memories of Laurel and Hardy’s Ulverston visit and also exploring the places Stan visited 58 years ago.

Coverage of his planned documentary in the Evening Mail has already led to Mr Quinn making contact with people with memories of the visit.
