School closures - Friday update

SCHOOLS across South and West Cumbria will stay open today, after milder temperatures thawed out a lot of the county's snow and ice.

Ulverston Victoria High School will re-open for the whole school, after letting only Year 11 and sixth form students back in yesterday.

All other schools in this area which had shut due to snow earlier this week were fully re-opened yesterday,

Primary and secondary schools across the county had been forced to close due to snow and icy weather on Tuesday, and some stayed shut on Wednesday, as conditions on the roads and pavements remained hazardous.

Today, only two schools in the county have so far announced closures, in Carlisle and in Kendal.

Please keep checking www.nwemail.co.uk for weather updates and more news on school closures.

Nice one, Dicky. Your post certainly shows the result of the education you describe.
