PEOPLE POWER

SOUTH Lakes residents could be given the right to fine people who fail to clean up after their dogs.
South Lakeland District Council is considering giving councillors and trusted members of the public the power to hand fixed penalty notices to offenders.
The council is consulting on plans to introduce Dog Control Orders.
Rob Kitchen, SLDC Street Care client officer, said: “One of the thoughts we have put to the board, is for members of the parish and town councils or members of the public to enforce and monitor a given area.”
