‘I love Ulverston because...’ Harry Knowles
Last updated at 12:34, Friday, 21 September 2012
HARRY Knowles, chief executive of Furness Enterprise and Ulverston resident, said: “ I love Ulverston as, despite all the challenges it has faced, it has remained a unique market town with its town centre at the heart of a vibrant community.
“That uniqueness and vitality we must protect.
“It would be a disaster if for the sake of self interest we allowed it to be destroyed by new supermarkets being permitted.
“We need to cherish the range and individuality of Ulverston retailers, they make a major contribution to the feel of the town.”
