Robin Hulbert's 2010/2011 season blog - entry 3
TWO positive results have helped us kick-start our season.
Sometimes in football, and especially this league, you have to go back to basics. First and foremost, the key to getting results is to be hard and competitive.
I appreciate fans want to be entertained, but results, to me, are far more important.
The team have definitely put in two great shifts and deservedly got two clean sheets from a 2-0 win over Rushden and Diamonds and the 0-0 draw ay York City on Tuesday night.
I was sent out to watch the Wrexham versus Kidderminster game in midweek, so I missed our battling point at York.
I have no doubt that York will be in the mix again this year, so it was a great point gained.
The only bad thing is that we picked up a few injuries.
I have lots of respect and admiration for Shez (Darren Sheridan) because not only is he a great player but I am sure he is soon about to star in Dad’s Army. To combine both roles is a great effort!
Joking aside, he is someone who is a great role model and someone all players can learn something from.
I heard he played on for the whole game with a bad shoulder he injured in the first half. That speaks volumes about the man.
The York game was also the last of my four-game suspension.
I have started to dust the cobwebs off my boots and am ready for a nod if required.
I will be ready. Obviously, I would like to be more match-fit but unfortunately that is not the case. Thankfully I am still young so it should be no problem!
I must admit, I have really missed the adrenalin buzz you get before and during a game. Nothing comes close to that.
I remember once hearing Ryan Giggs say that scoring and playing for Man United was as good as having sex.
I can totally understand where he was coming from now. I love that nervous and buzzing feeling you get when playing and in the build up to a match (even though I do love my young lady loads!)
Well, what more can I say.
Three points at Wrexham tomorrow would go a long way.
Believe me, the Welsh Dragons will be feeling fragile when the English Bluebirds are breathing fire down their necks.
Roll on match day and let’s paint the town blue.
