Date for funeral of loving father

THE funeral of a loving father who died after being found unconscious in the street will take place on Friday.

David Crossman, 39, of Hartington Street, Barrow, was found unconscious at 10pm in Aberdeen Street, Barrow Island, on June 27.

His funeral will be held at Thorncliffe Crematorium on Friday at 1.45pm, two months to the day since he died. The funeral was delayed to allow further post-mortem tests to take place.

Mr Crossman’s mother, Carol Crossman, of New Leys, Barrow, said the funeral will give the family a place to visit to remember him.

She said: “Tests had to be done and that’s why it’s taken so long but hopefully everything is moving on now. We will never have peace of mind but it is a step forward. Once he is laid to rest we will at least have somewhere to go to remember him.”

A notice in Monday’s Evening Mail read: “Loving and proud dad of Andrew, Leanne and Nathan, much loved son of Carol and the late Brian, devoted brother to Brian, Keith, Paula and Lee, a very dear brother-in-law and uncle and a very good friend to many.”

lLee Cooksey, 39, of Schooner Street, Barrow, appeared in court in July charged with the manslaughter of Mr Crossman. Cooksey was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned for a plea and case management hearing to take place on September 27, probably at Carlisle Crown Court.
