Croftlands Community Safety Group news

A monthly drop in for a "coffee and chat" will be held at the Croftlands Community centre every 2nd Friday in the month 11.30-12.30pm.  Community Police Officer John Turner will be there as well as members of the Croftlands Community Safety Group.     If you have any policing issues this is a good opportunity to chat with John.   Everyone welcome.

The Multi use games area (MUGA) and an adventure play area built on the Croftlands playing fields.

Work is now complete on building the MUGA and already it is proving very popular with many youngsters and sometimes several footballs at a time can be seen in play. A litter bin is soon to be installed adjacent to the MUGA, and a further one will be in place once the adventure playground is built.

The Adventure playground is soon to be built. I hope that residents will be able to see the plans soon.

The Spring newsletter is available - copies are available in the Spar shop, Post office/newsagents and hairdressers (all Croftlands).

The Croftlands Community Safety  Group (a kind of neighbourhood watch) was formed   in 2007 by a few local residents to try and address some of the problems occuring at the time

We meet very informally to discuss any worries such as safety, security, anti-social behaviour, including drink and drugs, cold callers or any other issues. We share ideas and by liaising with our Community Police Officer John Turner, local Councillors and others we hope to find solutions.

P.C. John Turner helped us put a "Community Box" inside the Croftlands Post Office/Newsagents along with printed forms so that residents could report anything that they felt the Police should know about, information can be entered onto a form and left in the box - it isn't even necessary to leave a name if you don't want to. A  newsletter to inform people who we are and to highlight some of the safety concerns in the area  is produced quarterly-  you can pick up the Spring copy at the Central Drive shops -  The Police cannot always know what is going on in a particular area, but we the local community can be the eyes and ears to know what is happening in our street and by the community and the police working together we can help to keep crime off our streets.

If you would like to come along to any of our informal meetings then please get in touch .
