Name the marmosets and win a prize!
Last updated at 16:10, Thursday, 17 December 2009
A few weeks ago, Lakes Aquarium’s new baby pygmy marmosets arrived as tiny balls of fluffy fur clinging to their mother and father’s backs. We could hardly see them at that time, as they are the babies of the world’s smallest monkey anyway, so it didn’t seem the right time to christen them.
Now, they’ve grown slightly and, although still tiny, are developing personalities. We’re still stuck when it comes to choosing a name, so we thought we’d leave it to the experts and see what suggestions you come up with.
We’ve an amazing once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on offer for the child that comes up with the best names, as we will allow them and an adult to come to the Aquarium and hand-feed the marmosets, at a pre-agreed time.
Give it some thought and let us know which two names you would choose. The babies’ older brother and sisters are called Marmite and Marmalade, so don’t choose those and maybe think completely differently.
These creatures live in the rainforest, so that may give you inspiration, but you might decide to focus on their appearance and behaviour, or just pick a name that has something about it that makes you think it would be just right.
You can let us know why you’ve chosen your selected two names if you wish, but that is not necessary.
The best way to name anything is to see it for yourself and our babies are here seven days a week, from 9am-6pm, if you visit Lakes Aquarium. Tickets cost up to 25 per cent less online at www.lakesaquarium.co.uk so be sure to tell the adults that.
Members of the 5-13 Club get free entry with a full paying adult, so that’s a good reason to join. You will also be invited to exclusive events during the year.
The closing date is July 17.
Come up with two great names and you could be the lucky winner.
