Snow slideshow
SNOW and ice transformed South Cumbria and Millom into a winter wonderland – but caused havoc on the roads. Children enjoyed sledging and building snowmen as the South Lakes got a covering of snow, while areas further south contended with the ice and sleet.

HUNDREDS of shops and commercial premises in Barrow are set to benefit from a free revamp. Following on from the success of Barrow Borough Council’s shopfront scheme, which started in 2010, the council has pledged an extra £100,000 which will allow businesses to apply for grants of up to £2,000 to replace their shopfronts.
